The Jackson Collection

Looks like Noro Silk Garden though doesn’t it? It’s one skein of “It’s a Wrap” by Sensations – color #3. Found this for about $6 at Joann and thought it would be perfect to practice with before I try to knit this at with my actual Noro yarn using an eyelet pattern created by Strings and Strands.

Old Faithful, using one ball of Colinette Point Five.

I took a break from knitting hats to knit a scarf and well, matching hat. What can I say, I love the instant gratification of knitting a hat in an hour. This set is for the very lovely Lulu (Lauren) for Christmas…no peeking. I used two strands knit together of Ciclamino (Color 9) from Laines Du Nord. The hat took four balls with leftover yarn, and the scarf used four balls plus the leftover yarn from the hat in a knit two, purl two rib.

And you don’t have to search every bookstore in Brooklyn to find this pattern…
This was another mistake without misfortune – I intended to create Old Faithful again, but instead this time I was one stitch off. You can recreate this diagonal pattern by casting on 40 stitches and on row one, knit 2, purl 2. On row two, knit 3 purl two (one time only), then knit 2 purl 2 for the rest of the hat until the decreases.

Same pattern as Old Faithful, using one skein of Sensations – Sumptuous from Joann Fabrics – only about $5! Knits up a lot stiffer, which is a hit with the gentlemen.

Same pattern as Old Faithful, using one skein of Katia Nepal wool.

This is my go-to pattern, adapted from the pattern on the Lion Brand Web site. Cast on 40 stitches on a size 13 16″ circular using Wool Ease Thick & Quick or a similar weight yarn and knit one, purl one until it reaches about 6″. Then gradually decrease on alternating rows until you’re down to about 8 stitches. (Knit 5, knit 2 together for one row; knit one row; knit 4, knit 2 together; knit one row; knit 3, knit 2 together, etc…

1 : containing or full of seeds <a seedy fruit>
2 : inferior in condition or quality: as a : shabby, run-down <seedy clothes> b : somewhat disreputable <a seedy district> <a seedy lawyer> c : slightly unwell : debilitated <felt seedy and went home early>
Not this hat! When I accidentally reversed my knit one, purl one rib I saw this beautiful seed stitch emerge and just went with it. Cast on 38 stitches on a size 13 16″ circular using Wool Ease Thick & Quick or a similar weight yarn and knit one, purl one until it reaches about 6″. Then gradually decrease on alternating rows until you’re down to about 8 stitches.
